At the end of every fiscal year, HUD and the Office of Native American Programs suspend activity for the Section 184 Native American Mortgage Home Loan program to reconcile financial accounts and set up accounting codes for the next fiscal year. The closeout period typically lasts several weeks, extending from the end of one fiscal year through the start of a new fiscal year. HUD will begin its financial year-end closeout for Fiscal Year 2022 for the Section 184 Native American Mortgage Home Loan programs on Wednesday, September 21, 2022.
Lenders may continue to submit requests for case numbers, cohort numbers, and loan guarantee certificates during the closeout period but these requests will not be fulfilled until the Office of Native American Programs opens back up for the next Fiscal Year.
